brings together Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak. The film's theme of
play-acting and/or remaking a woman by male domination is also seen in
George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion (My
Fair Lady). |
Start your students off with thought-provoking questions that are connected with VERTIGO.
1) Do you believe that someone out of the past, someone dead, can enter and take possession of a living being?
2) A central theme of this film is betrayal of trust. Think about a time when someone betrayed a trust you had placed in him or her. How did you feel when you first realized the betrayal? How did you react to your feelings?
3) At what point does love become obsession? If obsession takes over, is love still present? (Keep this question in mind as the film progresses.)
