GUIDELINES FOR FREELANCE WRITERS |
CLASS ACT is published monthly September through May and is primarily for teachers of English in grades 6-12. We are looking for PRACTICAL teacher tips, classroom games, composition ideas, literature activities and study sheets appropriate for students in middle school, junior high or senior high school. Writing in a style suitable for students is most important.
We are looking for ideas from one paragraph to five typewritten pages long.
The audience may be either the classroom teacher or the students. Issues include articles, tips and ideas for teachers, and ready-to-use activities designed for teachers to photocopy and pass out to their students.
We like to use material that is clever, requiring thought and creativity from students. We do not like mindless busy work. We love material with a humorous, light-hearted, offbeat or down-to-earth approach — the kind real teachers use with real students.
Remember, we are interested in ideas that have practicality. Please don't send us your master's thesis!
Payment ranges from $10.00-$40.00. Payment is for all rights and is made on acceptance and return of signed form stating the work is your own and has not been published elsewhere. We try to get a response to an author within four weeks after receiving a manuscript. PLEASE enclose a
S.A.S.E. with your submission; otherwise, we will assume you don’t want the manuscript returned if we are unable to use it.
E-mail submissions (to classact@lightpower.net) are encouraged, as long as they are not attachments.
We look forward to hearing from you. An author’s copy is sent upon publication. Sample copies are $3.00 each.
