Class
Act, Inc., is a publishing company based the banks of the Ohio River in
Henderson, Kentucky. (Let us know if you're ever coming through our area;
we'll be happy to meet you and give you the Historic
Henderson tour.)
Here
at Class Act, our goal is to provide materials that are both practical
and educational. With over forty-five years in combined teaching
experience, we know that lots of what is available just isn't useful for
your classroom. We know that your time is valuable, so we offer you publications
that you can use today, without any extra work on your part.
Our
initial product was Class Act, a six-page
monthly that is chock-full with ideas for your English or language arts
classroom. Some of you may have been subscribers to Cottonwood Monthly,
the forerunner of Class Act. Nine years ago we purchased Cottonwood
Monthly, changed its name to
Class
Act, and began publishing in the fall of 1993.
In
1994 we asked our subscribers if they'd be interested in a film study
guide that we'd written for the Alfred Hitchcock movie Dial
M for Murder. The response was so overwhelming that we decided to
offer more titles. We now have study guides for twenty-four films, with
more being developed. (Please e-mail
us with any suggestions of films for which you'd like to have a study
guide. We'd love to hear from you, and we'll pass your suggestions along
to our writers.)
Since
that time, we've also added other material. We now offer products that
deal with creative writing, reinforcing grammar skills, composing journal
entries, and studying Sherlock Holmes. Our
notepads for English teachers, one of our most popular products, is
something you can use to let everybody know what it takes to be
"just" an English teacher.
We
always welcome e-mail or
other correspondence from our customers. Please let us know about
successes you've had with Class Act publications or about any material
that would help you in your classroom. If you have ideas or
questions that you would like to share with other teachers around the
world, please visit the Faculty Lounge.
We
hope you have a fantastic school year. |
